Polyurethane
Polyurethane foams are soft foams ideal for one-time use in packaging applications. As an open-cell foam, polyurethanes are lightweight, flexible and compressible, providing effective cushioning for light and medium weight products.
Uses
Polyurethanes - Ethers and Esters - have numerous packaging applications. In addition, they often are utilized as cushioning in vehicles and home furnishings such as furniture, carpet underlay and bedding.
Benefits
In packaging, polyurethanes both secure products from moving within a package as well as provide cushioning to protect the products from impact and vibration damage. A common packaging use is for particularly fragile products that required greater cushioning, such as electronics or glass or ceramic products. Further, some polyurethanes are soft to the touch for consumers.
